Ashley's first Ballet class

I can honestly say that I never thought my 3 year old would be doing dancing/ballet. I can understand a 5 year old or a 6 year old, but I still think 3 is too young. So....why is she doing ballet then? Well....she has really bad knock knees, turned in hips and her feet turn in also. She will be walking along and then the next minute she is on the floor. She trips over herself all the time. We took her to a podiatrist and a dr to find out if we needed to be doing anything to correct it and they said she will grow out of it, but in the meantime....put her in dancing they both said as it will improve her muscles around her hips and turn them slightly etc etc. So....here is my 3 year old (turning 4 this year) in her ballet costume all set for dancing this morning.

"Watch this Mum, I can do tricks"

Check out these cute little ballet shoes. I still can't bring my head around it, but it was so cute to see all the little girl's dressed up. I don't know about purple though!!! Surely a soft pink and black would be more appropriate? Oh well. She is there for her legs and feet not for the dress code. She listened to her teacher and she did eveything she was asked. They made the lesson lots of fun for the little one's and she can't wait to go back.

A new year, a new room

I don't know what it is lately, but I have the desire to decorate. I couldn't be bothered doing my room and the kids rooms seemed small enough to tackle....BUT...I can't stand painting walls. It's a lot harder then you think. But....I'm happy with the outcome. The photo's don't show the true colour, but basically all the walls are an off white/cream colour and I've painted a Mocha coloured feature wall. Now I just have to decide on some wall prints. I'm thinking big white or pink frames with some kind of pink inside???? Anyway....I will be on the lookout for something girly and sweet.

I also painted her shelves. They use to be pink and purple, and I re-painted them pink and white.
I bought these gorgeous removable vinyl stickers on-line and they are great as they don't mark the walls and they can peel off anytime.

I couldn't help but do some new name letters for her door.

Hayden's First Day of School

Hayden thoroughly enjoyed his first day of school. He made some friends and was happy to go back the next day. He won't take his uniform off and won't hold my hand anymore. He is growing up way too fast. Something tells me this will be my last cuddle for a long time so I took a photo. He was up at 5:45am this morning all dressed ready to go to school and kept asking me "Can we go yet". ARRGGHHHH. When does the novelty wear off? Anyway...I am glad he is enjoying it and it is a positive experience. I am very proud of him and I am looking forward to the year ahead.

A top for Ashley (oh no....not another top)

My kids love looking in the mirror. She certainly doesn't get it from me, that's for sure. She just had her hair cut on Monday and won't let me put clips in it!!!
Back of top.
I was going to make a dress, but changed my mind again as usual. This top was inspired by 2 people. Anna from "Tillytom" designs, and Novy from "Little Munchkins". Novy ever so kindly sent me this gorgeous pattern, but as I was cutting it out, I decided not to bother with the interfacing/lining part. Then I remembered the dress Anna made for Ashley. The patterns are very similar, except Anna's dress didn't have facing. (which suited me fine as it was one less step to worry about) So...I cut out the pattern piece from Novy's but skipped the facing and simply just did the binding. THEN...when Ashley tried it on, I thought it was a bit too full looking. So....I decided to sew some elastic to the bottom of the hem to make it kind of like a balloon top. I think it will look super cute with some denim capri's or for a party somewhere. (excuse the pink shorts and no brushed hair). I'm wondering if I should add a little yo yo or something to the front????

An applique tee for Ashley

Ashley had this old t-shirt (size 2) that no longer fitted her. She loved it so much and she kept wanting to wear it. So I cut out the applique part of the old shirt and appliqued it onto a new size 4 t shirt. It might not be the same tshirt as before, but she loves it. I added some lace to the bottom. Pity my machine started to pucker a bit while appliqueing. It is far from the neatest job I have done but it will do the trick for now. I used vliesofix but it still didn't do so great. I'm sure a 3 year old doesn't see the mistakes!!!! ha ha - I HOPE NOT.

Bags, Bags and more Bags

I used the new bag interfacing which is fantastic. It makes everything sooooo stiff which is great for little bags like these.
Pink and ruffled.

I had left over fabric from Ashley's bag that I made her, so I used it up and experimented a little. I think I am going to give one to my neice for her birthday and one for my friend's daughter (who we are godparents to) for her birthday also. The ruffled bag was so easy to make, but I don't think I am happy with all that PINK!!! ha ha. But...I had fun making them and they kept my sewjo alive.

Bag for a Friend

This is a bag I made for a dear friend. When we were at the markets on Saturday in the city (Southbank), they had this gorgeous stand of home made handbags. They were so gorgeous in every way. Every colour combination you could think of....she had it. Red and black, pink and blue, pink and brown, aqua and pink, yellow and orange, black and white...I could keep going but I think you get the picture. My friend kept umming and aaarghing about the pink and brown or the red and black. I had the pink already in my stash so I thought I would save her the $$$ and whip one up.
It has template plastic on the bottom and bag feet. Instead of a snap closure it has a button with covered elastic. Instead of using interfacing etc on the bag handles, I ended up using some template plastic and it worked a treat. I love the bag and I love pink, but for me personally...it's a little too "pretty". Bows aren't really my thing....but this was what the bag looked like at the markets, so I tried to copy it exactly.

A night away and recharged batteries

Well...it doesn't happen very often but it's soooooo exciting when it does. Troy is always busy at work, training for triathlons, playing golf and bla bla bla, that I often don't get to have a chance for "me time with friends". We always catch up during the week with the kids and all the drama's, but a night out is rare. So here are some photos of where we were and what we got up to.
This was the view from our apartment in the city. It was such a fantastic view in the heart of the city. Close to shops, restaurants etc.
We went to my favourite place (only been twice) but love it. It's a Turkish Restaurant in Southbank and they play music while you eat and the belly dancers come out. They always get people up from the tables to dance and it is just a nice change from a quiet standard restaurant. The belly dancer in this photo kept dancing and flicking me in the face with her costume. She got all the boys up for a dance. It was very funny to watch.

My favourite part of the night away was the sleep in the next morning and a buffet cooked breakfast. Yummo.

The Melly & Me Sleepover Bag - FINISHED!!!

Here is the front of the bag. I still have to put the handles on, but they are all cut out ready to be sewn on. The sides and top are all quilted. You can't really see from the photos but I have quilted down the stripes and quilted horizontally on the top.
The back of the bag.
The side of the bag with zip and rings.

The side of the bag and inside lining. I used a yellow to break up the pink.

And look what we have here....bag feet!!! YAY. I have always wanted to try.
So I am very happy with how it turned out and I know Ashley will love it. She is now ready for sleepover's and trips away. Something tells me I will have to make another one for Hayden. (Maybe in army colours????)

06 January 2010

Sleepover Bag - Construction begins

I have cut out all the pieces for the Sleepover Bag from Melly & Me and I have started construction. I have put it off for months...but I feel the need to at least make a start. Wish me luck. I'm a bit scared. I'm doing things I have never done before (bag feet etc), so it should be a good challenge. The bag is for Ashley for when we go away and when she has sleepover's at Nana's.

Sneak Peak #2 - New Year Swap 2010

Oh I am just loving having DH home on holidays. I managed to do some more sewing towards the New Year Swap. Here is a sneak peak.

Sneak Peak #1 - New Year's Swap 2010

Ok...here is the sneak peak. But I would like to point out that I never get a chance to just sit down and sew very often and my Husband is on holiday's at the moment which is giving me plenty of time to do "me" things. He goes back to work next week and then it will be full on and then school starts....so...hence the early finish on this item.
I have one more thing to do and I am using some Amy Butler fabric for that....Will post a sneak peak of that soon too. I was so excited to do this swap and just couldn't wait to get started.

Winner of my Giveaway is......

Well....There just so happens to be 2 winners of my blog giveaway.

Why you ask? Well....I used the random.org calculator to determine who the winner was and it came out with a number which was allocated to Susan (Bris Smith). Even though Susan's comment said she has no girl's and won't enter the giveaway....she was still kind enough to leave a comment. So....Susan....I would like to do something for either Kaiden or Jordan. I'll contact you now.

I then did a re-draw using random.org and the winner was LESLEY. I will also contact you Lesley to get your address details.

Happy New Year Everyone!!!

GIVE-AWAY TIME!!!

I had a day at home today and haven't been able to sew anything for a while now. I have plenty to do but can't start them until the new year. So...in the spirit of Christmas and giving....I thought it was time to do another give-away. The give away consists of a pair of shorts (to fit size 1 or 2). They are elastic and very roomy so could fit either size. Also included is a bag I whipped up. It's nothing exciting. Just a little handbag for a special little girl. The inside fabric is the same as the shorts, so it's a matching pair. Inside the bag is a pocket with a strawberry in it. To enter simply leave a comment and for an extra entry add this giveaway to your blog. I will draw it when I return from holidays first week of Janurary. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!

Merry Christmas

A "rare" moment in time. My 2 children actually sitting together and playing nicely. Merry Christmas everyone and a Happy New Year.

10 December 2009

Is it a dream? No...it's a bloody huge hole in the wall

If you look cloesly you can see the huge crack, but up the top it goes all the way around in a 60cm circle. I think we are going to have cut the whole piece out and replaster. It's quite large.

We had an interesting night last night. It was rather frightening. We felt something or someone hit us in the middle of the night while we were asleep. Troy and I were both in such a deep sleep that we didn't know what was going on. We started throwing air punches, yelling and screaming. I was screaming at Troy to turn the light on. I'm yelling out "Babe...are you ok, where are you". The light comes on and turns out that the thing that hit us in bed was a canvas painting. We really thought that someone had broken in. It fell right on top of us. I got hit in the eye and face. Poor Troy jumped out of bed and ran straight into the wall leaving a huge 60cm x 60cm hole. The photo doesn't show justice - it's actually worse than what the photo shows. I jumped out of bed and ran straight into the blinds and pulled on them so hard I broke the chain and the blinds were everywhere. We look back now and laugh...but what a frightening experience.

Christmas is Coming

My gorgeous Husband organised an early Christmas gift for me. I picked out my favourite family photos and he had them done on canvases for me. They are now on display in our lounge room. Excuse the photo - the glare is annoying in the morning.
Here are the little angels helping me put up the Christmas tree. They love watching the lights every night.

Camping Trip - Coolum Beach

We decided every year that we would do an annual family camping trip. Just us "Young One's". ha ha. We had such a lovely time and it was very relaxing. Photo's attached are of Hayden and Ashley's Uncle's and Aunties. The kids had a ball. We played beach cricket, soccer, swam all day. The only time we spent in the tents were to sleep. We had glow sticks at night time for the kids. (That occupied them for hours). Even though we had a great time, it's always nice to come home.

Cancer

Cancer is a scary word and it defiantly isn't a word we like to hear. I thought I would write this post even if 10 people read it, it might make the difference. Someone we know died this week from cancer. It started off as a Melanoma. A mole on the side of her head. At the age of 18 she was diangnosed with a skin cancer. She had it removed to only find out 2 years later that it has spread to her brain. They treated her and removed the tumour from her brain and 1 year after that the cancer popped up into her bones. She now had bone cancer. She had more treatments and even had some bones removed and replaced with artificial one's to remove all the cancer. It then spread to her heart. They operated to remove most of the tumour to buy her more time, but she was told there was nothing else they can do.
It started when she was 18 and she died at the age of 24. If you are reading this I only ask one thing - and that is please go and have all your moles checked for skin cancers. What started off as a tiny innocent mole turned into ruining not only her life, but the family and loved one's around her. She celebrated her 1st wedding anniversary this year in August and didn't live to see Christmas. Wear a hat, use sunscreen and having a tan is not cool. Please do yourselves a favour and have your skin checked.

RIP Holly.

Army shorts for my Army man

Here are some army pants for my army little man. I thought it was time to make him some more army shorts. I made him 2 pairs in size 4 last year, but he has out grown them and these one's are a size 6. An army helicopter flew over our house today which reminded me I had some army fabric. He loves anything army. He has the whole army set up in his room (tanks, planes, trucks etc) and loves watching war movies (not the violent one's, documentary's etc). He plays army games on his DS and what more can I say? He is my little soldier.

Here is the front. It has 2 side pockets and a fake fly. It has an elastic waist but it is joined onto a band.
Here is the back. It also has 2 back pockets for all the army men he carries around with him.

Close up of pockets, fly and band. The fabric is very busy, but when he is wearing a plain white t-shirt or a plain black t-shirt, the shorts make it complete. They were very quick to make and only took 40mins or so to whip up once they were traced and cut out. I love fast quick projects. I have been so busy lately I haven't had time to sew, but I really want to move onto my next project which is the "sleep over bag".

Photo's, Photo's and more Photo's

I have been missing in action lately, and it's only because I have had so much on, I haven't had time to sneeze, let alone sew, cook, or do anything crafty. I must admit though, I have enjoyed watching all the doll quilts un-ravel this week. They are all just gorgeous. I was sitting down the other day and I managed to experiment with some photos. I thought I would share some.

This is my facebook profile picture at the moment. ha ha, sad isn't it, but I felt like doing something different and creative. Lucky for me you can't tell my legs need waxing.
This is Hayden at my BIL and SIL's wedding. I love this photo. He was getting annoyed at everyone taking photos of him, and this was him coming through the doors of the church before the bride was walking down.
Here is Troy and Hayden (mini -me) I love calling them that from Austin Powers. They are so alike in so many ways it always makes me laugh. This was taken at my nephews christening.
And here is Miss Ashley playing outside in our garden. I managed to capture this one today. They are gorgeous bright orange and red flowers, but I changed it to black and white.
Anyway...another busy week here this week with lots of orders and working hard....so I will try to pop in again soon.

Slip n slide

We had a fun afternoon today. We decided to get the slip 'n' slide out and let the kids just go for it. They had a blast!!! Oh to be young again.

Fairytale Dress

Here is the dress I made Ashley using the Fairytale fabric. I don't think the fabric really suits the dress, but any case, I still like it. It has a zip at the side and it has a cross over bodice top. I have 2 questions.
1. Should I keep the yo-yo there or take it off?
2. If the yo-yo stays, should it be a different colour and be positioned somehwere else?

A Dress in Waiting

Well...after thinking about it long and hard, I have decided not to use traditional Christmas fabric this year to make Ashley's X'mas dress. At least this way she can wear it over and over and over again and get some wear out of it. I have chosen this fabric. She still loves fairies very much and she also loves horses, so when I found this fabric with castles, fairies, horses etc, I couldn't resist. She is only 3, so I can still get away with a fairytail fabric or some kind of novelty fabric at least for one more year. I love the pink, brown and blue used in it, and I am pairing it up with some pink ribbon. Dress pattern is simple, nice and summery and I can also make a couple of tops too. Fabric was $12.95 p/m so I got 2m.

Dolls Quilt

I'm such a sucker for anything pink and girly!!! I got my god daughter a baby and stroller set for Christmas and I couldn't resist but to make her a little doll's quilt. I used Helen's idea from "Patch Work of Mini Grey" who made a beautiful cot quilt for Ingrid's little girl Kitty. I just loved how Helen made the stips of colour and thought I would try something similar. (on a smaller scale of course) Anyway...this is how it turned out and I am really pleased with it. It's simple yet colourful.

20 October 2009

Knitting

I love my Mum. Isn't it funny how no matter how much you are taught something; sometimes you just can't get it? I can knit one, pearl one, cast on and cast off, but that's it I'm afraid. I'm a terrible knitter. I have tried to be patient and I have tried to knit may things, but all I have ever made is a scarf and some cup cakes. My Mum made Ashley this gorgeous knitted bolero style top and this poncho. The poncho looks gorgeous on and I love the colour of the bolero top. Finally something that isn't pink. ha ha. I would be lost without my Mum, but I love the fact that she is there to knit the kids some goodies each winter. I think I will stick to sewing.

17 October 2009

Yo Yo, it's off to work I go. (ha ha)

Tonight I made my first ever yo yo. It was so quick and simple to do and now I am hooked!! Hooked I tell ya!!! ha ha. Thanks to Novy for sharing the link on how to make a yo yo. Photo above is another singlet which I added some lace to the arms/shoulders to "pretty" it up. I've just finished doing some letters for a new baby girl and also in the photo is a "sock flower".

Tillytom Designs

I bought a tillytom design from the lovely Anna. http://littlepossumdesigns.blogspot.com/I have been admiring Anna's dresses over the past couple of months and I saw a dress on her blog recently which I just loved so much. The design itself is just super cute and sweet, but the fabric she uses to make them with and the contrasts are just beautiful. So....let me ask you....What do you do if you love something so much? You buy it off course. So I bought the dress and Anna put in with the order some lovely clips, ties and buttons. Thank you Anna so much for this gorgeous creation. I am proud to show it off and let everyone know where I got it from.
The gorgeous hair clips, ties and buttons that the lovely Anna put in the package for free.
And here is the dress.
Ashley was so excited to wear it and it's just gorgeous. I love it. It's got plenty of room for her to grow into it. I ended up getting the size 4/5.

09 October 2009

Melly & Me - "Sleepover Bag" Fabric

I picked this fabric up today. I just adore it and I thought it would look great as Ashley's sleepover bag with some polka dots and stripes as contrasts. I will use this as the main part of the bag. My search still continue's for contrast fabric. I just refust to take the kids with me, so I might have to leave fabric shopping for another day.

08 October 2009

Cupcakes

It's no secret that I am a cupcake lover. I love all cakes but I love SPONGE cake. The other day I bought a cupcake book and it gives you lots of idea's on how to make and decorate cupcakes. This was my first batch and first try at ever decorating cupcakes following the book and recipe.
I used a glace icing and ready made icing and I also drizzled chocolate onto some grease proof paper and put it in the fridge to set. The sponge cake recipe was so nice. I could see endless colour opportunities. I have bakery boxes here in the house for my gift sets that I sell, so I thought what a great way to wrap and give as gifts.
These one's are going next door to our neighbours. They have helped us a lot over the last couple of weeks with concrete slabs, high pressure water cleaning our drive way and letting the kids have lots of swims. So this is my thank you to them.

07 October 2009

A new friend and a black eye

Sadly we said goodbye to our Budgie "Cooper" as he got a really bad bacterial infection that made him very sick. The kids were upset so while they were at kindy yesterday I went and got them a new budgie. Hayden has always wanted a yellow one, so when I saw this one, I knew I had to get it. She is very tiny and just a baby but so far we have had her out of the cage 6 times and she is very happy to sit on my finger or play with the kids.
Poor little Ashley has her first black eye. I am just so over my kids fighting all the time. It usually is all day (except when Hayden goes to kindy). It's a love hate relationship and I wonder why they don't have a close bond? Don't get me wrong...they do get a long...but it's usually 70% of the day where I am dragging them off each other and seperating them. I always involve them both when doing activities, but they are both such jealous kids. And don't get me wrong....it's not like Hayden punched her in the eye....it was an accident...BUT...they were fighting at the time it happened. My brother and I use to fight all the time too growing up. I can only hope that things will change. I try to teach them right from wrong and how to share and how to play together...but no matter what I say...it always turns into tears. I always look at other familie's sibblings and how they interact and play and I quietly am jealous of their close bond they have. They seem so happy and they WANT to play and have fun together. Is it an age thing maybe???? I don't know.

01 October 2009

I've been busy

I sewed a singlet for Ashley. I made it using the Ottobre t-shirt pattern, but I just changed the sleeves so it would be a singlet. I can't believe I used fabric other than pink.
Don't you just love a bargain? I picked up these cute little Babushka dolls today for Ashley. I couldn't resist. $3 for the small one and $5 for the large one. They had about 20 of each size in all different colours. These were the colours that she picked. I love them so much I think I want to go back and get more.

I got an order this week for a lady who had a baby. So I put together a baby gift pack. It consisted of wall letters, bib, baby all-in-one and a cute little flower made out of a pair of socks.

A Wedding and a Dust Storm

Wedding Cake
The Bride and bridemaids (and the dust storm in the background)
My Husband and Hayden
A very proud and happy page boy. Hayden was so excited on the day and had absolutely no idea what was going on the whole day. ha ha. The wedding was at Stanthorpe. It was freezing cold and there was a huge dust storm. But the day was lovely.

24 September 2009

Ok...so I am loving these shorts

I found some time this afternoon while the kids were outside playing Hide 'n' go seek. They are super quick to whip up and this time I did a plain pink. I can't wait to make some more. They are the same pattern/design as what I did below in the previous blog.

Shorts for Ashley

Here are the shorts I made for Ashley. Although she is completely toilet trained, she still has trouble pulling down her shorts if they are made using a button. SO....I decided to make her some shorts with elastic only. I much prefer making shorts with a proper band, and fake fly etc, but for her while she is still young, elastic will do just fine. I used a plain shorts pattern that I have from BURDA, and then I just made up and added the hem band and loops and buttons just to make them more interesting. I am so pleased with how how they turned out, I am going to make her 3 other pairs in different plain colours with the hem bands and loops etc. Problem is...now finding the time.

19 September 2009

Jazz it up

BE WARNED!!! This post is NOT exciting!!! ha ha. lol. I had a few singlets from last season that were too big for Ashley. I got them out and realised that they are not very exciting. (Mind you...they are singlets you would wear probably under winter clothes). I just added some white lace trimming onto the straps of the singlet and a flower motif to the front. The flower motif is like a satin 3D flower with strawberries on it. I picked these up on ebay from Singapore I think. A bag of about 30 of them a year ago.
Anyway...they were super quick to do and fun. I think I need to go to SL and get some more bits and pieces and some funky ribbons.

To Market to Market.....

First of all I thought I would post a photo of Ashley in the Oliver + S summer top I made. My last post was just the top, but it looks so much better on with a white long tee and jeans.
Here are some of the things I was selling. Wall names, Sock posies, canvases etc. This was at the kids and baby markets last weekend.
This was Jacqui's stock. Embroidered gifts, nappy cakes, personalised tee's, towels, etc.
And this was our table. Jacqui had her banner up which is "Butterflies and Kisses". I didn't advertise my business apart from business cards etc. (I was very slack) ha ha. We had a great day and lots of networking and meeting people.

Ashley's Quilt

The reverse side of the quilt
Border quilting - I just did simple rows.
I had fun doing this quilt, although at times it got neglected. It is finally finished. It's very shabby chick, but if she ever gets sick of the pastels and florals, I used bright spots for the reverse side. Our internet has been very slow and I have 2 more weeks until it is at full speed, and because of this I think this is the only reason I managed to finish it. This post took 2hrs to upload this morning, that's how slow the internet is. ha ha, lol.

Birthday Dinner

Her one birthday wish was to have a butterfly balloon. (wish granted)Pretty in pink

Cake time. And a change into her new fairy dress.
Here is the birthday girl in action. It was a lovely dinner with all her cousins and Aunty's and Uncle's, Nana and Pop's etc. She loved the cake (I was relieved - ha ha). She had a lovely time and was spoilt rotten. Happy Birthday beautiful Ashley!!!

01 September 2009

Ashley is turning 3

I can't believe she is 3. My baby girl is no longer a baby. The 5 years with Hayden has seemed to of gone so slow, but with Ashley it's the opposite and has gone so fast. Too fast for my liking. I couldn't find any newborn baby photos of her because they are on the old computer. Happy birthday my sweet darling girl.
We got Ashley a play kitchen for her birthday. It's all been put together ready for her birthday tomorrow. I just love it. Oh to be young again.

Because I am helping at Hayden's kindy tomorrow and going to the shops and getting a few last minute things, I didn't have time to make the cake on her actual birthday, so instead I made it today. It's supposed to be a fairy castle cake. It's lopsided and not the neatest cake, but I am defiantly not a cake decorator. I wish I was....there are some amazing cakes out there.

Singlet Dress

An overload of photo's of Ashley (sorry about that), but I couldn't help it today. Even though she has been sick she was so playful today. She had a singlet that didn't fit her anymore. It was too short and showed off her belly, so I cut it up and added a gathered skirt peice to make it an all in one dress. She is calling it her "princess dress". Oh how sweet. I can't believe she will be 3 on Wednesday. Very scary indeed.

Oliver & S Sundress/top

Here is a top I made Ashley using the Oliver & S pattern that they had free on their website recently. It was so quick and easy to make. I had it cut out all ready to make as a dress. I tried it on Ashley just before she went to bed and the fabric didn't suit her at all (as a dress). It was too busy and bold for my liking. So....in good old fashion LISA style, I took the hem up and made it a summer top. I am so happy I did it. It looked so cute with a pair of hot pink little shorts she has, or even some denim jeans or shorts. I didn't manage to get a photo of her wearing it, but it looks a lot nicer on. I used some stretch elastic as a feature on the bodice. The only issue I had was whether to make a size 3 or 4 for her, and I opted to make the size 4 so she could get more wear out of it. I'm wishing I now did a size 3 as it is a little too big under her arms.

Lazy Day Hat no:# 2

This was the one I had cut out for Hayden ages ago, but it also doesn't fit him. ha ha. Not having much luck am I? Oh well...it also can go to a good home.

The Lazy Day Hat - 1 down, more to go

I have had this hat cut out for sooooo long and haven't had the time to actually sew it up. And because I have procrastinated about it for so long, Ashley has actually grown a size. It doesn't fit her properly at all. It looks ok from the back, but from the front it wouldn't even protect her face from the sun as it doesn't come down far enough. So...back to the drawing board and I will make the next size up. It was a great hat to make though and I will be making lots more.

A name plaque for a gift

Some old uni friends of ours had a baby boy last week (8 weeks early). He is doing great. The parents haven't even started the nursery, as she was due to finish up work this week and have the remainding 6-7 weeks off work to do everything. Little baby Lachlan lives at the Gold Coast and his Dad is a huge surfer. So I thought it was only fit to paint Lachlan his own door sign on a surfboard and painted with a wave. The photo doesn't show it up very clearly but it has chocolate brown ribbons as hooks and chocolate brown little dots around the letters. I also have a few goodies to go with it and we are going to go and see them either on Monday or Wednesday to give it to them.

Introducing "Cooper"

Ok, so it is taking me a long time to convince DH to get the kids a cat or a dog. I think the main reason is because we are always away, so in the meantime we now have "cooper". He is a baby budgie and the kids adore him. We have had him out of his cage and walking around and he likes to sit on me, but is a little bit scared of the kids (ha ha, I would be too).

Clips and Bows

Look what arrived in the post today. I was so excited. I was the lucky winner of Chris's blog giveaway http://4lildarlins.blogspot.com/ Thank you so much Chris. The clips and bows are just gorgeous and Ashley loves them. She is one spoilt little girl. I love them all and I love the way you packaged it all up and the stationery is just beautiful. It was very professional and I wish you and your business all the success. xoxo

Babushka Top - Take II

Here is the Babushka top I made Ashley (second time round). I much prefer the red contrast with the black as opposed to the white I hade. I'm just still not convinced about the dark colours with Ashley. Anyway... I'm working on a second top in summer fabrics so we will see how that turns out.
(excuse the photos - Ashley is wearing a striped long sleeve shirt and pink tracksuit pants under her new top. Not the best combo, but it's cold here today) Novy - notice a little certain someone she is cuddling - Miss Buttons.

Ottobre Dress

I made this dress a few months ago now, but this is the first time Ashley has actually worn it. I couldn't resist taking a photo of her in it while playing with her "my little ponies". She doesn't usually wear white. (what young child does???? ha ha). She managed to keep it clean all day.
